Greetings word lovers and welcome to Christie the wordsmith. The titans of early Greek tradition where the twelve children of the world's first couple of the Earth Mother and Uranus the sky father a family of six sons and six daughters the Titans were enormous powerful gods each personifying a force of nature. Oh S.A. was the Sea God from His name comes our word Ocean the sun god was Hyperion and two of his Titan sisters Themis and Rhea were Earth goddesses no moss and he stood alone amongst her siblings as a goddess of a human attribute memory. Her name is associated with the word mnemonic a device for prompting the memory. A second generation of Greek Titans included the mighty Atlas who loaned his name to the Atlantico ocean the Atlas mountains in northern Africa and the Atlas as a collection of maps collectively the Titans symbolized powerful elemental forces of nature their size and near invincibility inspired the adjective Titanic applied to anything
large durable or impressive. Titanic was of course the name given to the colossal ocean liner which capsized in the North Atlantic on April 15th one thousand twelve. A metallic element used to make light strong alloys was named titanium by the German chemist Martin Heinrich in allusion to the power of the titans of ancient Greece. This is Christy the wordsmith.
