Greetings and welcome to Christie the wordsmith. Almost everyone has a phobia and irrational persistent fear of something familiar terrors are acrophobia the fear of high places and arachnophobia the fear of spiders. Those who are horrified by thunder are Bronco folds. Not a common condition but significant enough to warrant a name. More rare yet is an abnormal fear of clowns. Children suffer this terror for the obvious reasons. Clowns are large loud and freakishly costumed larger than life hair and heavy make up conceal the clown's identity. Adults fear them for more abstract reasons as tricksters clowns can be chaotic and unpredictable. Clown humor is often expressed in teasing or even cruelty and violence. Many adults admit to either fear or dislike of these characters. And. Have even been divulging their dread on websites devoted to cold or a phobia the abnormal fear of clowns.
