Greetings and welcome to Christie the wordsmith. The New Testament story of the woman caught in the act of adultery is one of the most memorable tales in the Bible. The encounter occurred during the time of Christ's dramatic miracles changing water to wine healing the sick and feeding 5000 people with a few loaves and fishes. The Farah sees a sect of Jewish scholars who had been watching Christ's actions with growing concern brought an adulterous woman to the new teacher and asked him to judge her knowing that adultery was a serious offense. The Pharisees wanted to see if Jesus would support the law that required her death by stoning with hundreds of onlookers waiting for Christs reaction to the accusation. The teacher replied If any one of you is without sin let him be the first to cast a stone at her. One by one the pharaoh sees skulked away until only Jesus and the woman remained. When he saw that no one had condemned her. Jesus sent the woman on her way. This is the tale behind
our proverb. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone which admonishes us to refrain from criticizing or punishing others when we ourselves are imperfect and may be guilty of the same infraction or wrongdoing from Montana State University in Bozeman.
