Greetings and welcome to Christie the wordsmith. The dramatic based element Twi. I means to it shows up in Twist twine twin twice. Twilight twill and Twain hidden in each of these is an etymological code that indicates a pair or two of something twin and twice are the most obvious examples. TWINE is twin with an E. The concept of two or a pair is embodied in the notion that joined and wrap strings produce twine etymologically the double string to twist is to interlaced two threads filaments or strands together. Twill a type of fabric is so named for the weft thread passing over one and under two threads of the warp instead of the standard over one under one.
