Last night yesterday evening early we had the news of Martin Luther King's assassination this morning just as you walked into my office some kind of a disturbance. Involving police cars and both black and white. Obviously high school student was taking place. Under the Windows API of his office. And I said God help us all.

And I like your reply. I said that God could not help us any longer. He has run out of patience and we have mocked him too many times. We have we got him fed up and I think. That we are running out of time. And the patience of God is also running out. I don't think that we have living left in any alternative and he chose to help us. He has been trying to help us for hundreds and thousands of years. And we have been mocking him and mocking his true justice his true democracy. By destroying men combine and establishing our own kind of democracy. So that's why I feel that there is no way. This is a typical day a typical act the assassination cold blooded murder of. poor through a meek and wise man Dr. King. The government I feel is responsible by encouraging. By the way not development work for the poor. Ways for the oppressed. It was plain he said these margin would not represent their civil rights but human rights for the first time the black people would ask for land would demand for land not just jobs education and their housing but land just like the people in New Mexico are demanding land. Well perhaps we could talk now about what you are doing in northern New Mexico. How it started. You yourself were

born in Texas I believe. Yes in fall seated next to September 21st 1926 in a field in a cotton field. Yes ma'am and you were your mother's fifth child I was a mother people. Sometime anciently five counties because it's where we make up the 90 percent of the population. The deputies in the volunteers who went to the next town to arrest I found substantial It was a plain citizens arrest. He was turned out into a chewed out because of the state police and that they there were a hearing was being held for the leaders. They were being tried. And of course the following was published throughout the nation in the world that there was a revolution going on to get somebody on guard the governor Governor David Cargo whose wife is a member of the South. So in New Mexico the people have been educated through the radio. We have a daily radio program daily. Their rights are and that were practiced by these people 300 years that have been bar out of school. See the Spanish language traditions and culture and certain. Perpetual right that we hold have been frozen completely and we're not all of these rights I want to get this clear.

The original treaty of Guadalupe didn't reserve to your people these poor lands and certain rights. Yes yes or yes. And these rights have gradually been removed and frozen frozen the government has never legally dissolved any rights or any point of what where and what was included in those rights. The right to your own schools allowed to languish in the larger culture cultural rights which includes the language property rights which includes the more. The mode of or the way of leaving the lease concerning the property we held no property individually but a little home and a little garden we could not hold over 150 square yards for ourselves. in trust for all the villagers. So naturally the government comes and respects the Indian pueblos. But the Spanish pueblos he froze them confiscates the land takes it converted converted into public land or U.S. forest land under the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Interior. Our government took full responsibility as our government to protect our lives and our property our properties. Well in a mere eighteen fifty eight ten years after the signing of the treaty

those documents were burned mysteriously in whether one had a holy skull before United States took the currency. According to his obligation to ask Mexico for a copy of those titles. What is it that you expect to achieve through the court. Well when one step is the courts because of our enemies which are slandering and saying that we want to use force and violence even though that's what they use themselves in that's what they're doing they're using prob the whole world. But but then when it comes to war they want to behave like angles as the name Anglo means from the Latin angles. Now they want to go to court we are going to court and certainly to a certain extent. And we can prove that it is not a treaty then US has no title for the South West not only for the problems but for the whole Southwest. Again.
