I have a lot of favorite programs. Can you think back to when you were younger and some of the things that you like to watch on television. What what what do you think were some of your favorite things that you like to watch. Really three things you remember any of the characters on Sesame Street that you might have like especially like one brown where he I think that I can count on this guy there for camp. Green so he can write. We get to be counting on the people on the right track one Bob or Greg.
Take what I said you saw. And Bob McGrath. And I come off the street and walk in through the door. First it will be tape and suddenly I'm on that and I'm Bob just on the street. I've watched the show grow from a very simple show I think a really beautiful and rather sophisticated you think about all of the parts that go in to make up each one hour show and with encompass so much more of these past 10 years and I guess I've grown very very gradually I think all of us have but I feel that I've I've drawn myself and some of the. In the way that I deal with children I think we're listening to children much more attentively and
accurately and meeting some of the responses and responding to children much much better. And. I guess inadvertently that has really become part of my own real life and hopefully at times even deal with my own children as well as I deal with the give them the shelf. But it really has become a part of my own life stuff when I'm looking at the script and learning a script and I see that involves children on the street and trying to enter the peace through the eyes of a three or four year old. I watch what I attempt to always kind of go back and sometimes they even use my own children to do this especially when they were younger. I'll ask them a lot of people and how they think about it. Most interesting part of the whole process of how any of this got him
is that the final casting for the show and they did it by quite a number of actors and audition for the show by doing. A test little test pieces similar to what we would be doing on the live show and they showed them to thousands of kids different parts of the country and they took the little people they tested the kid them what they remembered and who they identified most strongly with and by that they can show the original cast of four and I was fortunately one of them. You are. You could never otherwise I think some children get
the. Kind of a little icky when people are talking about it often in your life. But you can make your point and you can do much more. What do you do you. About six or seven years ago I was invited to a telethon that Friday with national media. They're doing now. And all the major cities from Montreal and so forth and most of them go directly to children. I will then
are building little and involved live by was the year around the home I have the thing problem to deal with that any parent with children growing up all of them any that you can think of. We have them right here from our nine were 19 year old. And that becomes everything that obviously I can't laugh and think and chuckle through all of those problems. I guess basically on myself I I don't think I have the time of the talent to be somebody totally different that much much later. I think that pretty much. Why.
