Description
Episode Description
Reporting the News – ever wonder how news stories get on TV and in the newspaper? Exactly who is setting the news agenda in New Mexico? Neither elected nor appointed, reporters, editors and news directors are often as important as any government official. The news media influence public opinion and help set the public agenda. They largely determine what you know about your state, your government and your world. So how do they decide what’s newsworthy. Stateline New Mexico gives you the opportunity to phone-in your questions to two of New Mexico’s leading journalists, Dan Herrera, assistant managing editor of the Albuquerque Journal, New Mexico’s largest newspaper; and veteran anchor Dick Knipfing of KRQE-TV, a station that has recently seen a dramatic increase in viewers of their newscast at a time when television viewership is decreasing.
