... ... ... Ch Su La Shop was his boss. He couldn't find him again. What was that? Ch Su La Shop was his boss. What was that? Yes, this is all mine. More horn for the ...at your shadows in the movie. Anyone out? Yeah. So, you guys are actually supposed to enjoy a conversation between each other. Okay, you guys rolling?
Marker? I'm really impressed with your balloons. It's a beautiful balloon. Thanks a lot. And I want a neat theme to have. I have one. The stormtroopers around really add a lot to it. Yes, I like the stormtroopers. You've kind of captured the show here. Yes, yes. It's a success here. Yeah. It's a superhero. No, I'm not a superhero. Oh, because you and your team is so great. But you like to have a picture of my balloon. I sold it this last year. Yes. But it's the world balloon. Oh, yes, I see. And then that's my name. So I wanted to get it and see. Okay, thanks. I put it on there so I'd remember who I was. Thanks. It's here. Thank you very much. It's a beautiful one. Thank you. It's still flying. Yes, I am. It's not me, though. I see this one this morning. Yeah.
It's a good one. Thank you very much. Not as neat as yours. Thank you very much. Yeah. How long have you been planning? How long? Oh, no, they fly. Oh, my young pilot seems. Seven years? I mean, how long on the Darth Vader? Oh, two years. Two years. Two years. Is it what's here last year? Yes. Last year was the first time in America. Oh, perfect. How old is the balloon? Two years. Oh, yes, yes. Well, we're sure glad to have you here. And stuff. And I hope you're being treated right. If you're not, let me know. I got a little pull around here. Not much. Not a little pull. And I could holler at somebody. In case you're not being treated right. Yes. Are you sure glad you came? I do love to be there. It's funny.
It's very friendly. We meet a lot of pilots. We see other shapes. It's very friendly. It's super. How big is the Darth Vader balloon? That light. Oh, I will speak in meters. We have a room. So it's 26 meters high. Uh-huh. The width is 21. Like this is 27. So, you know, about volume. And inside volume. Yes. Um, the volume is 1.5. A table 5. It could be a meter or a meter. It could be treated. Not good enough. Nice feeling. Step in for you. Can you tell them that you think of balloon fiesta? Okay. What kind of time you're having beer? Okay. Thank you. I can't save you when I come. Nice. A quick card. Oops. Are you enjoying the balloon fiesta?
Yes. Very enjoying. It's the second time. It's very funny. Friendly. I like to meet guys on the field. Fun from Star Wars. Other pilots. It's very fun. The most important place for us in America. It's, you know, because... Well, thank you very much. Normally, we have a bunch of sand for you to land. But now we got grass. It's better, it's better. Are you free for grass? Yeah. The grass is very premium in New Mexico. Yes, I know. For us, it's important for... Oh, yeah. Keep it going. We don't need black. Well, great. We've ended the concessions. The concessions? Yes. We've been there.
Yes. We find a lot of items. And we don't fight in New York. Oh. So we make your shop. We buy. First class. Yes. If I could have you talk about special shapes in general, just be a special shape rodeo. Thank you. And how that might be unique. A lot of changes in special shapes recently. A lot of fantasy cartoons. Yes. The movies. There is new one, huh? The fish or the airplane? I love the fish. I do too. And the bees are always great. And the co, I love the co. With the smiley smile. My body is too dark. But it's dark weather. What do you expect? That weather in white is not that dark. The only thing that has a disappointing,
you didn't have a speaker in there the same. Forces with the orchard. But some guys tell me, then with the burner, it's just like you. Oh yeah. That's good. The burner, yes. If you keep doing that, then you get too hot. Yes. But we have to have the voice, which was too complicated. And too AV on the basket. Sure. Sure. Well, they've got a lot of new ones out there, like the castle and us. And the people are like whatever. Yes. You too long to skip them. A lot of pretty gold. Yes. Could you tell on how it is being an international opponent yesterday, coming from the upper harbour to be here? I hope you understand. If you could say, or comment on how far you travel. Before we come here.
To come here. Yes. How long it takes to get here and how it's worth it? Oh, yes. It's the best event. Okay. And did you represent your country on Wednesday? Yes. But we take off too late to be on the right of the nation. But normally, yes. There is the pink country for Belgium. It's not me. Oh, well, you know. That's nice. There are four Belgian boats. It's more country, but you know. We got this helicopter coming in, guys. It's probably going to scrub it. It's not me, it's me. It's me.
Jimmy class is continued by the Saxony footage. That's true. Oh, yeah. Later. What do you stairs do? Umm, trees. Fine stuff. Yes. Hanna, a. B. M. A. I. C. I. A. Clear back from when I had the first world change.
So, being then better than you. You know what's going on? I'm talking about world championship things. But I'll get one. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow. I don't have any more pins for my balloon. Oh, that's right. I imagine that it's demand. Yes, in two days. My grandson has one. That's crazy for pins. I'm trading cards. Yeah, they, yeah. We're between one or ten toes on press and off. So, the Ed Black balloons was one of the two pole-grout guys. Did you hear that? Yeah, I saw it. That's pretty cool. I was standing there and saw it. He got it on the film. Who, who, who is that? Where are they from Atlanta?
It's just me. I mean, you know him. Oh, of course I know him. Oh, yeah. You see that? I don't know him. Oh, Tom, you have to meet him. I'm the beauty consultant. I know him. I know him. Four years. The golden voice. Oh, Tom. Don't make it out. That's good. No, all right. There we go. Get your, I have my face in the sun here. I look better in the dark. That side. Yeah, I don't have a mic on it. No, and I didn't miss that one. Yeah, I'm going to take it. Hi. I'm tired.
I'm tired. I'm tired.
I'm tired. Yeah, yeah. I'm tired. I'm just concerned with the hard questions. What's your, your favorite moment of PS2? The favorite moment of PS2? I don't know. Probably the first flight, you know? Because you sort of get here prepared for everything. And then the first, first morning, first, first flight. You see all, you know, it's a mass ascension. All these people in and, you know, sort of remember everything like for me last year. Everything comes back. And it's usually the best flight, you know, of the whole competition. Because of the whole PS. Because you don't have any competition. It's just everybody's up there having fun. Probably be it. And right next to that is the tailgates. Tell me about the kind of tailgates you have. Well, actually, we came here. I was first here four years ago. No, three years ago. No, four years ago. And we didn't know anybody. It was sort of scary to fly here. And, you know, we mostly just drove around,
sort of explore the city. And then three years ago, my mom and dad met Neil. And Dubai. And sort of, so when we came last year, we stayed with him. And they sort of introduced us to everybody. And we started, you know, having, you know, going through the tailgates and just having fun here. And that's when it started. It's really great. You see, you know, really dear people there. And, you know, we all have some beers. Have some good food. Just hang around here. It's just good times. What kind of food have you been eating? Oh, it's been this year. It's been great. We've been eating a lot of good food. So every day, somebody makes something else. So it's been like, one day, it was some occasions too. And we had some, like, green chili sauce, with some, like, meat and hamburgers, chili burgers, like that stuff. So the state question is, red or green. Which do you like that? Oh, yeah.
The chili, I'd go green. Eko. It's a green at first flight. You mentioned that you think of the year before. What are some memories you have from the year before? Well, from the year before, it was sort of different, because I wasn't a pilot. I wasn't a primary pilot then. Now, we flew, but it was more, it was more exploring the area. We had a one flight before the whole competition. So if you guys have started, we took them from here with Neil. And then, you know, we sort of got into the whole stuff. And he said, like, if you fly like over the city, you don't want to clear the city. You know, don't eat land in the city. You get some really useful tips from people who fly here regularly. Because otherwise, this is a really scary place to fly. With, you know, with the reservation, with the ranchers, and the PC zones, and then the huge city, and then the airport. It's really tight. But then, you know,
and that was sort of warm up. You know, we just came here, sort of learning about flying here. And this year, you can sort of focus on the competition, and whilst flying, really having fun. So this sort of the peak to allow, you know, last year, we're sort of still exploring the, and the whole, the whole Albuquerque area, how it is to fly here. And this year, you know, you sort of get the confidence, and, you know, you know, what you're doing, and how to fly. How do the good, you know, how do the good. It's a little, I met you at the airport. What sort of thoughts did you have about that first Saturday? Oh, just getting that, just started off, you know, started off, Fiesta? Thoughts about starting at Fiesta. I don't know, it was, it was all pretty relaxed, you know, meeting friends. It was just, you know, just good times. You got there, and you knew it was going to, it was going to be good. We know, we came a bit early, we know we're going to do, you know, a bit of shopping, just meeting all friends, having a couple of parties before, you know, just being relaxed about it.
And just, probably the most important part was like, once you see the weather. And it seemed good. And it was just waiting for the, for the Fiesta to start. We got the balloon, we got the car, you know, you got everything settled. We had some problems with the, balloon getting here, so we got that settled. So we were all packed, I'm ready to go, in times, some insurance, and then, you know, you always get some issues. When you come, like when you ship your balloon all the way across the, the planet, and you sort of, you count on, you'll need some time to get settled. So that was exactly what happened. But we had plenty of time, so in those two or three days, we got the balloon, got the basket, got everything settled, and we were ready to go. And mentally, how were you before that first flight on Saturday? As a, as a pilot on your own right? Yeah, well, I was, concerning, you know, my first flight here as a primary pilot, I,
I, I can't say I felt something different than from last year, because I flew, then, too. And I was, I was, I was ready. I was really happy, you know, being able to, sort of do this on my own. I just came back from, from the worlds. I did pretty good there. I was, I was feeling pretty confident about this competition, you know, and, especially, I like the whole mind, you know, the frame of, of being here is, well, whilst it is a competition, it's still a fiesta. And, you know, it sort of takes a lot of burden out of it, and you can sort of compete, and do your best, without the whole pressure of, you know, really having to kind of, on this course. It was, it was, it was never, never, sort of a tense feeling before the flight. And, other than all the, the areas around Albuquerque, how is it flying here with our weather? Oh,
it's, it's a bit windy. It's, it's more windy than we would usually fly, about flying, flying here in the Albuquerque is, sort of a, a bit of a challenge for us, because as I said, you know, the whole area is, if you don't know what you're doing, or haven't flown here before, it can be a bit challenging, and then again, you, you would take off this much stronger than we would back home. But then again, if you got the right direction, you, you would have, you know, places to land. Back home, we really keep it safe and fly, in really calm weather, because, places where we would land, we would fly, or like, we have, like, really small landing spots. So, you, you can't fly in really high, you know, high winds. But here, if you fly out, sort of, if you clear the city or go over the ranchers, you know, you, you know, and like, big fields to land. So that, that might be the major difference, you know, between flying back home, or here, it's just, you know,
flying in, sort of, higher winds, and having, having some different weather conditions. And then, of course, there's the box, which is like, so the Albuquerque box is something really amazing. We only seen this year, maybe once or twice, but it's really rare, like, back home, you get, once, a year, I chance to sort of take off from one place and then land back in the same place. And usually, if you're flying somebody, they don't really appreciate it, because, you know, they want to see as much as possible, and you're sort of trying to get back to the same place you took off from. But it's a challenge for every balloonist, you know? So, you know, it's a top of, you know, balloon control you might get, because every other pilot, sort of, is used, you know, being able to take off from one place and back in. And for us, it's something that's really hard to accomplish. And when you got the wins, the enabling of that, you know, everybody sort of tries to do it. It's very fun for us. We love it. Thanks for being here. Hang on, Amber,
look at that. Sure, right? Now we trust you. Yeah. So, yesterday we had a box. Yeah. Can you tell me about flying in that? Yeah. So, yesterday we had a box, which was, because not regular boxes, it was more of the shape wins. So, you would take out from the field, and then you had towards ranchers. And then if you went up, again, sort of trying to fly, if you went up again, you could sort of cross back to get to the path, to, you know, get back in the field. Unfortunately, I didn't see that before we took off. So,
I threw my mark here, and then I just flew off, and then I saw some other balloons, you know, doing the box. So, I missed out on the box, yesterday. But we did a pretty, it was a nice, it was an hour and a half flight. We went flying towards the ranchers, and we had fun. We really did. We had a nice landing, and it was, it was good. So, what was the view? I had my crew with me, you were the same age. This is the first time here in Fiesta. And, actually, they were friends of ours from back home, and they got married a couple of months ago. So, we said, like, we're going to take them with us to the Fiesta as a present for there, for their wedding. And, we flew, like together, the first flight, we flew together. But, I only could take you, it's on that flight, because I was worried about the field consumption, because I thought it would be a long flight. And,
we didn't score that good that day, and we scored really good the first day. So, we just, you know, we sort of figured that it was them both in the basket with me, but, you know, brought me luck. So, we got, you know, I'll keep that in my part, flights to come. Haha. Are you ready for this truck? Okay. That was good. So, I want to get into the spirit of competition. Yeah. And, I watched the video. But, we're, everybody got some bread,
because we didn't get, you know, it's, it's 2,000 meters above, you know, ground level. And, you, you sort of don't count on that. And then, we spent one day on field, and you get all some bread, you know, red, and it's, wow. the winds really, like in the morning, everybody's talking about taking off, you know, flying, you know, you have like real hard drainage wind, and we're like what? You know? Are you serious? And then, it drops down, and you land doing nothing, and you, like, you take off in like 20 miles per hour or what not, and then, you'll get to the field, and it'll be like completely calm. Or you, you'll feel like today, you have people coming in from the, and then somebody, you just, you know, C'est cool, y'know. C'est sort of weird-ish, but it's fun. I wanna hear all of a sudden again. That was great. We'll be got all of it. But... Did I just step all over here? No. Okay, great.
It was sunless. You got the audio, and you have video, but it won't cut. You know what I mean? Yeah. So... But... It's true. Yeah. I don't know. It's posing. We're not recording. It'll be like this. I'll be just talking to you and... Yeah, I don't care. Yeah. Shut up. Shut up. Okay. Now they're moving in the same room. Okay. But I think it's Friday, and it doesn't look good for the weekend, so I think many people, you know. They might have left. It doesn't look good for this evening as well. Yeah, it's just gonna be windy. It was even this morning that said, like, really windy. We're ready anytime. Right. Okay. So to get back into the spirit of competition... Right. What do you want to know? I'm just thinking out. What goes through your mind when you're getting ready to make an attempt? I don't know. It's sort of weird, because I'm not that... I don't know.
If I were competing something else, I'd probably be different. But, you know, right here, just, you know, you know what you gotta do. I sort of get quiet, you know, before the competition is quite focused on. And then there's a lot of worries, because it's not all up to you. It's like you gotta kind of know the weather, and when you take... You know, you gotta calculate when you need to take off. And what will you do in the air? You just sort of go step by step, you know. Put the balloon up, wait for the sign, just go up. And then once you're in the air, just take your task by task. I think I'm just... I'm not that... I need to cool down a bit, because it's... It's sometimes it takes really a long time to get to the target, you know. And it's... Like, I just want to go there in a second. You should get the right win, and you're going there, and it takes ages. You're just drifting slowly, you know, and you gotta get used to that. It's not as fast as you sometimes would want, or you used to, like in other sports. But you can really get into it, you know. You focus to the target,
and then you should have go up, go down, look at the air balloons. It's fun, you know. But if you look at it as a fun thing, then you really... You get a lot. If you're sort of, you know, getting frustrated about it, then... It takes all the fun out of it, you know. Listen, you gotta learn. That's the lesson I gotta learn, too, you know. But when everything is going good, you're all happy, and everything is great. And you mess up once, and then everything is like, oh man, wow, you know. Because you can't correct it anymore. But I guess that's, you know, this is your sport. And literally, when you're getting close to it, what's going through your mind? Are you thinking, okay, I need to... I want to burn the burner, but I can't. Or I have to count to five seconds, and then burn. Yeah, no, it's just automatic. You know, once you're together, when you see you doing good, I don't know. It's just a feeling you get, I guess. If you're still at the phase where you gotta think, okay, if I burn now, balloons are going to react in five seconds, it's going to go up. I should probably burn for two seconds.
Then, you know, I think you gotta do a lot more flying to get to the point where you really don't think about it. It was like that, you know, when it started flying. It was just, you know, calculating, thinking. And once you get some experience out of it, it just flows. You know, and when you get to the target, it's more like holding the baggy. And, you know, the whole burning part just goes flows just good naturally, you know. Especially here, like on the worlds and Europeans, usually you've got the gravity drop, which is basically just sliding the baggy off the side of the basket, which means like where you drop the baggy is where you were. And by here, it's mostly like free drops. You can grab the baggy and throw it. And then you gotta think about throwing it good, you know, because you can really be flying worse than somebody else. But if you throw really good, you're going to get better score. And that's a lot of fun, too, you know, because it brings another aspect of the flying. It's really fun when we flew last time.
We went dead center of the target. We were like right there. And it was really fast and sort of I was waiting, because usually if you throw it, if you throw it once you're on it, you know, the wind carries the baggy with the speed of the balloon. So if you throw it like two meters high, if you throw it over the target, it's going to drop two meters after the target. So like a good thing is when you're on the target, sort of turn around and throw it back when. So it stops and drops. But I was sort of thinking when it's thrown, not throwing it, and I was like looking back and it didn't throw it hard enough. So I missed it like, but maybe two meters. Now it was at six feet, but it was right over the target. And after that, it sort of feels stupid, you know. You just get straight to the target, you're right there, and then you sort of miss it. And it's like, oh man. But then again, you know, it only lasts for a couple of minutes and then you're all good again. And on to the results.
And psychiatrist. So. Yes. Okay. And mom. Yes. Okay.
