Translator: Please look at the camera. Interviewer: Could you ask the lady to tell me all about the events on January the 31st, 1967 – what happened to her and to her family and to the rest of the village, and to be as full and as honest as she can. Translator: Can you describe what happened in village on 31 January ? What happened to you? Nguyen Thi Nhi: I can’t understand you. Translator: How were you injured on 31 January ? What happened when the Americans arrived? Was your home destroyed on 31 January ? Nguyen Thi Nhi: Is that the entire question? Everyone suffered the same. Interviewer: Let’s stop. Just stop a minute. Translator: What happened that day? Did they shoot you? Did your house get burned down?
Translator: Please tell us from the beginning. Nguyen Thi Nhi: First of all, they arrived and burned everything. When I saw them, I was sitting. Then I was shot and shot, and I fell down. After that I did not know what else had happened.
