- Im Oscar Brand and this is the Folk Song Festival. Tonight well search for the earmarks of a real folksongor we wont. Theme Some Scholars Still Insist that a True Folksong must be fashioned over time, changing to fit the needs of various communities. Sometimes an old song can be replenished to sound contemporary. Or a new song can be freshly built to resonate like a genuine antique.
