- Description
- Description
- This episode travels to the rain forests of Gabon, a small country in west Africa, to examine mandrill society. The most colorful of all mammals, these close relatives to baboons live in groups of up to 80 members, ruled by the largest, strongest and most colorful male. This program looks at a particular group of mandrills led by Fang. As the leader, he is the only male allowed to mate. But as he ages, Fang is challenged by another male in the group. In addition to the mandrills, the program looks at the variety of unique animals that live with them in the rainforest. Forest elephants rule the ground while gray parrots and martins fill the skies over the jungle.
