World Record Halibut

No it's just Howard with three gifts down here we got some exciting news we cut how many pounds how their hundred and fifty nine pounds. And a hundred and one half inches. Tell us a little bit about how exciting it was. Well we were we were trying to get out of the water a little bit. Then we'd come back in a little closer and we were just I understand just getting ready to pick up that we were going to try to catch one more fish got on and it did. I knew it was a big fish straight away because it didn't play with it or anything it just took it and I want to write it down and it never never even made an attempt to come up when I first got your mind. And I thought I thought I thought I got a hold of a crab pot is what I thought. And then they can't talk about how deep it was and we never made any real
headway maybe a few feet getting up but then we got over a deep hole about 400 feet or so I think and then it kept going down in a deep hole so that I couldn't get it up and we were just at a standstill for a long long time I just had a hold of it and it just it just kept going down and I never made any headway bringing. And then and then it made a couple good runs I don't know it really swam up more than I'd brought it up and I'm just trying to get out of that and and then and then we got the girls came in there pretty good night helped because I'd catch him as we got to the top it disallows be able to reel coming down and I helped a little bit and then it was just in during that point and the nerves times I was on my knees. I was tired just like one of the most exciting things you've done sports wise it is yes. But ok what it has been that it is there.
John Henry. You guys. Will get all in here take it in there. John this is a crew that was there this evening and this is the owner of the boat that the fish was caught on and this is a cruise by gestating. I'm Henry Paulson. I'm John locking Catherine as a giver. Yeah OK so why don't you guys tell us what was what we like to get a little into I know is a big one after about 20 minutes and after an hour I called the grand illusion to bring up Frank Gaffney over so that you qualify for the world record and when we got in then sure enough it's big enough to take the world record. What is the world record. Crazy when my colleague here caught in the same place last year in 399 was a BMI 64 and you guys caught it right over on the set how that you have my broad day in 180 feet of water. Yeah still. It took two hours and 24 minutes from the time we looked at all the time we landed when we did it all by yourself.
I did rob a little lesson for a little help but I couldn't even get a bottle of beer out of. Are you from Alaska from Fairbanks when I last looked in Fairbanks 13 years and work for a college utility there and so you just your visiting here visiting we came here for LV. When we came here. Well that's pretty much all I guess it's pretty exciting and so will. Every look in every cell. Anyway this is not from Alaska that's harder with the world record fish.
