- "DORIS CHASE DANCE SERIES 1978 C/S 28:30 with SARA RUDNER" "This tape was produced at WNYC-TV and edited at the New York Network in Albany. "The Doris Chase Dance Series is dance choreographed specifically for television not dance choreographed for theatre space and eventually filmed to be viewed on the set at home. It is a new way of experiencing and appreciating dance. Video artist Doris Chase and dancer/choreographer Sara Rudner created this series of THREE VIDEO VARIATIONS. Music is by Joan LaBarbara. "I. 'Theme': 9:55 A solo performance, a straight forward, three-camera document with superimposition, of Sara Rudner's Dance for Television based on elements from 'As Is' a theatre piece. "II. 'Variation One': 8:05 The same choreographic material as in the Theme but varied by the use of an outline generator and editing over-laps. "'Variation II': 10:30 Again, a similar repetition of movement material but this time involving a sophisticated technique of tape delay, de-beaming, colorizing and mat key."--1978 Peabody Awards entry form. The first dance sequence is a solo, with the dancer wearing a nude leotard and dancing against a black background. The program fades from one shot to another, using close ups and full body shots. The second sequence features the same choreography, but it is just the dancer's outline in different sizes overlapped on top of itself several times. The third sequence is much the same, but colors are imposed over the dancer's body, turning her into a moving blob of color.
