[Announcer] "The Denver Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Denver has become as much a part of the
city as are the boulevards and neighborhoods that surround it.[city noise] But more than beautiful buildings,[music in background begins] The Denver Center possesses a heart that beats with the collective energies and talents of the men and women who share their love for the Performing Arts with the people of Colorado. Today the Denver Center ranks as one of the most impressive performing arts centers anywhere. Still groups of dedicated citizens and government officials are working to finish the master plan. When that is accomplished, Denver will have the most complete performing arts center yet built. Come. Enjoy the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Its productions, its presentations, its glamour. instrument known to mankind: the human voice. (operatic singing in background) Research of the voice is a new field. The Denver Center moves a step further in searching for new ways to achieve and maintain optimum voice quality in both live and recorded performances." [Sound researcher speaking] "This will be a measure of the dynamic or moving activity of your larynx." [Unknown female singer] "Waaaaa..." [Announcer] "Necessary to capturing the crystalline sound of music and voice, the Recording and Research Center has created a world class recording studio. Denver Center Productions mounts a revival of American musical theater classics and new works for national tour. The popular musical, "Quilters" has set box office records in Washington D.C. and won six Tony nominations on Broadway. Denver Center Productions is breaking new ground by collaborating with the Recording and Research Center on a feature length television drama. With a skyrocketing cost of productions on Broadway, Denver Center Productions will play an increasingly important role in providing affordable professional theater in New York and across the nation." [Carol Channing, actress] "How do? I'm Carol. Carol Channing? Yeah! And I'd love to tell you about Center Attractions, my favorite gem of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. My dear friend, Bob
Garner brings all those wonderful Broadway shows to Denver. You may have seen me in "Hello, Dolly," "Lorelai," or "Jerry's Girls." Center Attractions brings you "Annie," "Evita," "Barnum" and "Zorba." Why, next to diamonds, Robert Garner Center Attractions is a girl's best friend. The Denver Center. Call us entertainment!" [music] [Announcer] "Robert Garner Center Attractions: bringing the best of Broadway to Denver." [Unknown Actor] "...a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo."
[Announcer] "Denver Center Theatre Company; the place for excitement. Since its beginning, the Denver Center has grown from a five to a 12th place season, giving particular emphasis to the discovery and nurturing of new works and local playwrights." [music] [Announcer] "The theatre company is based in Denver, but it is also a truly regional theatre, serving people throughout Colorado and the West by touring productions to cities and towns where professional theater is seldom available. The Denver
Center Theatre Company is also home of the National Theatre Conservatory. The Conservatory, through its affiliation with the American National Theatre and Academy, is the only institution of Theatre Arts with a congressional charter. Students in the master level program are selected from all over the country. Conservatory faculty come from inside the theater company, visiting artists, and professionals from the Denver area. The Conservatory and the resident company support each other. In this way the company continues to grow as the artists of tomorrow achieve their full potential. The Denver Center Theatre Company with three main stages where music, adventure, and magic are alive." [music continues in the background] [Announcer] "The Denver Center reaches out to people in unexpected places and in unexpected ways. Special Activities at the Center include "Festival Caravan" lighting up the summer nights with free entertainment in Denver city parks. Tours
and workshops in area schools, special student matinees, the Theater Company's unique student usher program, and a wealth of other events. The Denver Center needs your support to make all this happen. Your support through contributions, volunteer groups, season subscriptions, and attendance. The magic is all around us. It springs to life and swirls with color. Where there is magic and amazement, there are the performing arts. Come. Share the dreams at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts." [music]
