- On February 16, 1971 from 11:00 Am to 11:30 Am, ET, PBS will feed a program entitled Backstage. Backstage is an ideal introduction to The Queen of Spades, which is schedule on Fanfare and is part of the NET Opera series. Backstage is hosted by Peter Herman and it is shown against the studio background of WGBH in Boston, Mass. Herman talks with John Reardon, of the Metropolitan Opera, and with production personnel at WGBH. Director Kirk Browning shows how he has adapted Tchaikovsky?s work for the camera. Backstage also features Jennie Tourel, veteran opera star, who makes her television debut in this country. This program may be used on days preceding the broadcast, and where possible at an earlier hour on Sunday, Feb. 28th, prior to the opera on Fanfare. Backstage was produced jointly by NET and WGBH.
