Description
Program Description
Fong discusses the myth that most pesticide injuries are sustained by field workers. According to the statistics cited for California in 1970, of the twenty-six deaths due to pesticides, none occurred on a farm. Fong also talks about the low cost of food (as a percentage of income) in the United States as compared to other countries. She observes that one impact of the beef boycott, caused by higher prices, has been a positive effect on the health of Americans, because they are consuming less red meat.
