- Coordination is the subject on Know How as Ed and Danny help Kathy with the badminton game by showing how important hand and eye coordination are in all sports. Film clips show professional badminton players in action. All About Animals: Gone Fishin find the zookeeper in the predicament of having the fish he has just caught eaten by four fish-eaters: the penguin, the water snake, the king snake, and the rattlesnake. The locomotion, appearance and eating habits of the harmless snakes are discussed, while the rattlers poisonous apparatus is given careful, if distant, attention. T. Mikami introduces some live baby chicks on Japanese Brush Painting; he shows how to draw them as well as a whole family of chickens. Know How: Produced by WCET in Cincinnati, Know How illustrates the basic principles of physics by showing how they apply to various sports. Host Edward J. Kennedy Jr., is program director of radio station WKRC in Cincinnati. In addition to having a Masters Degree in Social Service Administration, Doctoral Degree from Columbia, and several years of experience as a teacher and high school principal he has been a freelance publicity man, a radio announcer and play-by-play sportscaster, and a bird-dog scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is a basketball official in Ohio and Kentucky, and he has Coached several AAU basketball teams in the Cincinnati Major League. In Know How he uses film clips of famous athletes in action to demonstrate good sports techniques. All About Animals: Produced by WHYY-TV in Philadelphia. Joseph Bonaduce, public relations director of the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens, introduces live animals. He discusses the unique features of common animals and some common features of unusual animals. The animals selected are their appearances, actions, and temperaments are correlated with other animals and with human beings. Mr. Bonaduce is dressed as a zookeeper, and in addition to live animals, he uses film clips of animals in the zoo habitat as well as slides and pictures to illustrate his points. Japanese Brush Painting: Produced by KQED in San Francisco. T. Mikami, Director of the Japanese Art Center in San Francisco, has appeared in the adult version of JAPANESE BRUSH PAINTING and in a series called ORIGAMI for NET. He is seen in an outdoor-fantasy setting, sitting at a rock slab table with his easel beside him. A mass of black and white pebbles are on the studio floor form a design that changes from segment to segment. Behind him is a huge piece of seamless paper on which he has painted familiar scenes in traditional Japanese brush style. The scenes include, among others, a large pine tree with a Japanese brush style (trees and animals), which relate to the segments content, complete the set. Titles were shot in San Franciscos Japanese Tea Garden. In addition to demonstrating the techniques of Japanese brush painting and showing young stars how to paint some of the basic subjects, Mr. Mikami talks a bit about Japanese culture and art. - Whats New is a childrens series that ran from 1961-1973. The early seasons typically consist of multiple segments, each from an ongoing series on a specific topic. Each segment was produced by a separate educational broadcasting station, and the linkage between the segments was produced by WHYY and hosted by Al Binford.
