Episode Description
From the Blossom Music Center, summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, NET presents a concert by the Cleveland Orchestra by its principal guest conductor, Pierre Boulez (recently appointed as music director of the New York Philharmonic) and featuring soloist, well-known Spanish pianist Alicia de Larrocha. The program they will perform is as follows: 1. Symphony No. 5 Beethoven; 2. Piano Concerto in A, K.488 Mozart (with Miss de Larrocha); 3. Firebird Suite (original 1910 scoring Stravinsky). Sounds of Summer Blossom Music Festival is an NET production, made possible by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Ford Foundation. Running time: 120 minutes.
