- The fascinating story of the origin of the universe and the formation of the earththe earths changing face during thousands of millions of year... how we know the age of prehistoric fossils... the development of the first forms of life... how fossil bones are collected and prepared... the entertaining story of animals that lived on the Great Plains as far back as 350 million years ago, and up to the coming of early man during the Ice Age. The first two seasons of this series are presented by Dr. C. Bertrand Schultz, professor of geology and director of the University of Nebraska State Museum. Nationally renowned for his articles on geology, vertebrate paleontology, and early man in America, Dr. Schultz has led significant expeditions in eleven states and is a research associate for Frick Laboratory, American Museum of Natural History, New York City. Guests throughout the series include Dr. Benjamin H. Burma, associate professor of geology and curator, invertebrate paleontology, University of Nebraska Museum; Newell Joyner, naturalist-guide at the Museum; Lloyd G. Tanner, assistant curator, vertebrate paleontology at the Museum; Thompson M. Stout, assistant professor of geology; Dr. Richard L. Threet, assistant professor of geology; Dr. A.L. Lugn, professor of geology; and Henry Reider, preparatory, University of Nebraska State Museum. The 39 half-hour episodes that comprise this series were originally recorded on film.
