Episode Description
In Riverboat Captain Dan talks about the changes that occurred along the river because of the steamboats and the changes that the steamboats were forced to make because of the river. On All About Animals, The Circus shows animals that are captured, trained, or tamed. On You and Your Camera Lee shows us how to plan pictures, how to use the viewfinder, how to use the horizontal line, and how to plan pictures around two letters of the alphabet A and L. Over ten segments, the series Riverboat follows the story of the rise and fall of the riverboat on the Mississippi River. Elderly Captain Daniel W. Higgins narrates the tale to youngster Jimmy Deval over stills and drawings of various parts of New Orleans. Riverboat is a production of WYES-TV, New Orleans. In the series All About Animals, Joseph Bonaduce, public relations director of the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens, introduces live animals. This 10-segment series is a production of WHYY-TV, Philadelphia. You and Your Camera host Lee Weissgerber takes the viewer through the world of photography and explains the proper use of a camera during these ten segments. You and Your Camera is a production of WMVS-TV, Milwaukee. The episode is introduced by Al Binford, now a familiar face to children across the nation. Mr. Binford is presently on the staff of WTTW-Chicago, producer of WHATS NEW introductions. The animation is produced by Graphic Films in Hollywood. Series Description
Whats New is a childrens series that ran from 1961-1973. The early seasons typically consist of multiple segments, each from an ongoing series on a specific topic. Each segment was produced by a separate educational broadcasting station, and the linkage between the segments was produced by WHYY and hosted by Al Binford.
