Tempis fugit. February 20 1963 was the first anniversary of the Glenn orbital flight. For this occasion Warner Bros., under a grant from the Navy, produced a half hour film entitled THE JOHN GLENN STORY. The NASA press release follows. A stirring biography of Astronaut John Glenn, depicting his boyhood in New Concord, Ohio, his distinguished record as a Marine Corps pilot in World War II and the Korean War, his historic mission as the first American to orbit the earth, and his welcome home and address before Congress. President John F. Kennedy introduces the film with a personal message. This film stresses American ideals as exemplified by the heroism of Lt. Col. Glenn, and is highly appropriate for youth as well as adult groups. The initial release will mark the first anniversary of Astronaut Glenns orbital flight which occurred February 20, 1962. Produced by Warner Brothers, under the personal supervision of Jack L. Werner, the film is sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, the Department of Justice, and the Department of the Navy. It is narrated by Jack Webb. This film got a simultaneous release to ETV stations, all commercial stations, and key theaters around the United States.
