- Episode Description
- Chris Donaldson, Program Manager of KCTA-TV, interviews Representative Walter Judd of Minnesota. Formerly a medical missionary to South China, Dr. Judd was elected to congress in 1943 and has represented Minnesotas Fifth District since then. The Russian bloc, according to Dr. Judd, leads the US in every military area save three: our navy, our bases abroad, and most important of all, our allies who make these bases possible. These exceptions are the source of our strength today. To maintain our position, and to further the cause of free men everywhere, the USA must support and solidify its relations with its allies. Communism, he points out, is not simply an economic philosophy. It is a creed and can only be resisted by the constant affirmation of our goals and principles, and by our willingness to forgo luxuries in favor of items essential to our national strength. Nor should we forget that the USA is a prime exhibit of the working out of the principles on which the free world stands. We must behave in accordance with our important responsibilities not only at home but also abroad where we become representatives of our country as well as tourists visiting our neighbors. [NOTE: This is the only episode in which Mr. Donaldson acts as interviewer] (Description adapted from documents in the NET Microfiche)
