Description
This program spans two sides on two different discs: LT3909 and LT3222. Program 21 Side 1, LT3909: WNYC's American Music Festival, in association with the National Association for American Composers and Conductors, presents "America in Symphony". Music critic Sigmund Spaeth introduces the program, starting with two choreographic sketches by Granville English (prelude and scherxo). with Macklin Marrow conducting the WNYC Concert Orchestra. Elliot Griffiis' "A Persian Fable" is introduced. Side 2, LT3222: Program continues with "A Persian Fable" by Elliot Griffis. Spaeth talks about the National Association of American Composers and Conductors. He then introduces Henry Hadley's "The Entrance of Montezuma" from his opera _Azora_. The commentator returns and says we've heard works by Henry Hadley, Elliot Griffis and Granville English performed by Macklin Marrow conducting the WNYC Concert Orchestra, which is a unit of the New York City Music Project. Note: LT3909 originally catalogued as 150875.
