Eight of our island's lovely ladies will be vying for the Universe title to represent Guam. It's a title which will whisk them away to Mexico City Mexico next month.

Now let's drawing in our master of ceremonies for this evening on stage to meet our lovely candidates. I'm very pleased to be your host this evening. Your master of ceremonies. We've got an exciting evening planned ahead for each and every one of you as we search for the lucky candidate that is going to represent our island in Mexico City. The International Miss Universe competition. We're very excited ladies and our contestants are very excited. So without much further our go let's begin on a lovely. Contest. On. You.

Well it's a big moment that I know a lot of you have been waiting for. It's a swimsuit segment of our competition. the university upon. Continuing her education. Laila is the daughter of Joel and Lynn. She has three brothers. Sisters. Laila says her life. Is to work. And to become a teacher. For. Special talent. Her hobbies include swimming. Rollerblading and jog. Laila confidently claims that her mother is the greatest person in her world today. Ladies and gentlemen contestant number one the very lucky one the White House. Contestant number two. Christmas Carol Ann Romney. Lovely. Carol. Twenty years. Later.

She's the daughter of. Kelly. Graduating from. High school all around. Day like the teacher. Just. Beyond the goals her life. Just. To. Enjoy life as. Much as possible to be the best. That she can possibly be. It's it's hard so it's hard. She loves baseball and would love to be. Carolyn states that her parents are the greatest people world today. That because they always have. That. Ladies gentlemen and number two MS miss Carolyn Roberts. Question. Number three. Is Miss Evelyn Darnell. Hey. Evelyn Ward Darnell as she likes to be called was born in Suffolk England.

She's the daughter of Richard. HERMAN. Cain. Roger. Simon center. And she's continuing her education at the international. Court. She was 18 years of age. And presumably resides in chief. She learned anything in the girl. Darnell's mission in life is to become a singer a model or. Her hobbies. Include. Her talents include. Dancing and singing. Ladies and gentlemen. Lovely contestant number three. Evelyn Darnell. Number. Is Miss Antoinette Pablo. Loveliness. Pablo is 20 years old. And she resides in the village

today. Antoinette must be employed at Cassidys shirts as a bonding administrative assistant. To. The daughter of Thomas Pablo Paani like. This publice intentions are to continue her education. And become a certified public accountant. Hobbies include horseback riding and Polynesian dancing. She loves to socialize and meet new people from different places and to do new and exciting things so that she can learn from them. Ladies and gentlemen contestant number four Miss Antoinette Pablo. Contestant number five is a very lovely Miss Lisa Leilani boy. Lisa is 22 years of age and resides in the village of Debbie.

She is the daughter of Kim and Gloria. She is currently employed as a flight attendant with Continental my goodness. Lisa graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. She enjoys Polynesian dancing as a talent. Lisa and feels very strongly that her mother is the greatest person in the world because she is an inspiration. Learning how to deal. With the difficulties. In her life. And looking for ways to be cheerful. And. A fine. Ladies and gentlemen contestant number five. The. One contestant number six. K-Tel.

My. Lovely Mrs. Parr is 90 years of age. And she tells me. She's totally furthering her education at the University of where she also works in the financial aid part. Keisha says that her ambition in life is to become a director or manager of a business venture that has positive. Katulis Polynesian dancing and writing poetry is their favorite. Or favorite. Because there. Are unicorns. And. She might end up working for what you want. Really good. Work. Ladies and gentlemen. Contestant number six Miskito pop. Contestant number 7 is whispery.

Is 18 years of age. And she comes from a. Daughter of Regina and rose around. Liam boy to the holiday beauty shop which is owned by her mother. She is a major party. And here. In addition. She does part time. Learning English and. Ambition in life. And what ever she does to help others. However she has no success. According to Maria. Her mom is the greatest for others just because she is hardworking loving. Ladies and gentlemen. Number seven.

Maria. Contestant number eight. Is Miss shortly. Yes I. Can. Lovely Charlene is 21 years of age and she comes from the seaside. She's currently attending the University of Guam where she is studying secondary education. She is also involved in the University of one teacher corps. She hopes someday to become a secondary education health teacher and a certified aerobics instructor. Charlene enjoys traveling scuba diving and working out at the gym.

She states that her mother is the greatest person in the world because she is so generous to her. Charlene also enjoys meeting people and taking care of all of her animals. Ladies and gentlemen contestant number. Eight died. I. Don't. Know. Ladies and gentlemen we'd like to bring up our contestants one more time for their group judges. We come to my favorite portion of the pageant and that is the question and answer. This segment is an opportunity for each one of our lovely contestants to be asked a question do they not see ads from each one of our judges. It's a spontaneous response. At each one of the contestants will be judged on how they respond. To all of the attributes that they exhibit while they are responding. This is always the most

nerve racking also for each one of our contestants but I can guarantee you they've gone through this in the preliminaries and they were all wonderful just absolutely wonderful and each one of the responses. So at this time I'd like to bring up my very beautiful assistant. Miss Marisa Del Rosario to please come up with the questions. Are we ready ladies. Well let's start off with contestant number one. Laila what. Are you doing. Many people feel that beauty pageants are degrading to women. How do you feel about this. Many people feel that beauty pageants are degrading to women.

Very good. Let's go to the contestant number three. The lovely Miss Darelle page. Thank you. If chosen to represent Guam in Mexico City at the Miss Universe pageant. How would you describe our island to the people in Mexico. Once again. We have chosen to represent Guam in Mexico City at the Miss Universe pageant. How would you describe our island to the people in Mexico. On the very topic. It's very beautiful. And the locals are very warm hearted. Open the doors almost to total strangers. The very generous that they help each other especially families like the blas family and the end of them and us and the cell they believe that the road and they help each other making that home for them because they have no more homes so they make it for them so they can live. What do you feel is the most important current issue that faces the island of Guam and what can we do about it once again. What do you feel is the most important current issue that faces the island of Guam and what can we do about it. I feel that the most important current issue on Guam right now. Needs a little bit more attention and it's for the children's education. I think that they need to concentrate on that more so that they know what they want in future so that they can become successful. Thank you. Thank you very much. Contestant number four the problem. What is the most important challenge. Young women on Guam face in the 90s. Once again. What is the most important challenge. Young women on Guam face in the 90s. Getting a good college degree in college and looking forward for their future and success as they get older. It's mainly. In it's mainly college that. For the young women. That they have to really think about because as the future is there for them. So I think that they have to take care of their success in order to be there. Thank you. Thank you very much. My goal in life is to be a success. And be in the Miss Universe competition. Say keep them on. Yourself so that I can go on life knowing I'm good in. Fantastic. Thank you very much. 90s once again. How would you describe a modern educated woman of the 90s. A modern educated woman of the 90s is someone who is self determined. She is a woman that is very diligent and has goals. She strives for the best and she gives up her stuff to others. And that's how I would describe a modern woman. And I. Was quite a dancer. Thank you very much. For example anytime someone looks at you they think oh there's a person from Guam. You know. It's pretty funny. It's challenging every day. For. Me. And I like. When people see. Me. At this time I'd like to call up our presenters for both the best and evening gown competition winner as well as Miss friendship. And for the evening gown competition our presenter will be the 1984 Miss Universe Miss Eleanor. Oh my God. I am presenting for Miss friendship this evening will be the 1992 miss friendship for the Miss International beauty pageant Miss Norma stupid.

It says here on the tally sheet that we have reviewed and tested the individual judges balance and the overall tabulation of the contestant scores for the best. An evening gown event for the 1993 Miss Universe contest for the Guang beauty association we have satisfied ourselves that the above mentioned tabulation was complete in accordance with the Guam beauty association rules and regulations and compiled properly based on the final tabulation. We hereby certify that contestant number 8. Each one of our contestants.

Have had an opportunity to spend quite a lot of time together and. As is tradition every year the contestants get together and they decide amongst themselves who was the most congenial who was the most friendly who was the most amiable. Who was the one person that they felt it wasn't the most deserving of the miss friendship title here for the Miss Universe. Ladies and gentlemen we're very proud to announce that contestant. I know the gentleman I believe are tabulator have completed their tabulations and this is the moment we've all been waiting for. I'm going to call up. The three highest vote getters. To the Miss Universe that reflect the theme of peace and friendship unity. The overall coordinator for the pageant the gwon. So she meant her tireless efforts to focus the world's attention on I love this Universe pageant. I was exposed to a worldwide audience of nearly a billion viewers. Say the publicity constitutes now. Too much and always wants tourism. But I wonder is one. Universe. Pageant. Would it be possible without the support. For generously offering financial support and the. Staff were basically on top of. The. Effort. Last year they. Raised a lot of funds for the American Red Cross. Barbara. Starr was. At the University of Washington. My. God. For. My parents. Lisa and words of encouragement. I love

it when. You. Hear about. Life. Their only purpose filling in this one Universe title was from the triple crown to wear this past year. No prodding involved Great Work. But. More importantly promoting Guam the culture here. I've been through my not say this is the most prestigious competition I've entered. I do a lot of fun writing here on Guam and in the international pageant but. To get. To. The. Candidates from the Universe pageant time Asia-Pacific class how in Manila.
