I. Know. Hello. You don't know me but I cast your vote for president in 1984. You say you voted by pulling this lever. You did but I voted on your behalf in the Electoral College during the Constitutional Convention in 1787. No we should divide the delegates more than how the president would be elected. One group favored direct election by the people the other by Congress. The result was a compromise. Article 2 of the 12th Amendment to the Constitution provides for a double election in Wisconsin the major parties choose their electors in October. There are names of that appear on the ballot. Each vote you cast for a candidate is really a vote for the electors of that party the candidate who wins the popular vote receives the state's entire electoral vote as well. The Electoral College votes in December. So in 1984 if you voted for Ronald Reagan we both cast your vote. I might board with a constitutional minute or. Two.
