In the spring of 1923 this week the little railroad town of Las Vegas Nevada was just starting to wake up to the cost of the pennies that were donning. A rather nasty railroad strike that had provided the town to just travel and work from Washington DC indicated that Congress was finally going to do something about the Colorado River by putting a great big dam across it somewhere nearby. Las Vegas was the closest railroad stop from Los Angeles River. The government sending out engineering orders to check out the possibility. Of a little town saw that it had to hustle to get the project gone. So the Chamber of Commerce hired last founder from Los Angeles to be their new executive secretary in terms of at a Rotary Club might be a quick way to make Las Vegas look more important than it was. The butcher and brochure Harry Blanding might have gotten by without the railroad at the bank because he threw his own meat at his farm which was located about where the Presbyterian Church is now near the county hospital. Bill Pike who would later found pregnant by insurance depended on the population of the whole town for his movie theater. Mel Riley only needed one person to sell insurance to and now him and the lawyer only needed one other lawyer. Rotarians sides which he was the postmaster of Las Vegas. The founders wanted a squeaky clean charter application and he knew the rotary frowned on political bias of nations such as postmaster. Therefore Saunders felt that for rotary to be and it had to be now. And later years Mom savoring his sweet revenge he became the first baby Rotarian after the public chartered and thereafter mounted a campaign questioning whether Saunders was really worth the $200 a month that the Chamber of Commerce was paying. Rob Moore's father Julian Moore and his grandfather Leo McNamee have both been rotary presidents. So he decided to run for the office.
