This episode of the series "Louisiana Legends" from August 24, 2001, features an interview with Donald "Boysie" Bollinger conducted by Gus Weill. Bollinger, a native of Lockport, is the Chairman and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. He discusses: growing up with Bollinger Shipyards, which was run by his father; the company's expansions; attending the Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning (now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette); the role of shipbuilding in Louisiana; Port Fourchon; his affiliation with the Republican Party; his impressions of President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Governor Mike Foster; the 2000 presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore; his involvement with the D-Day Museum in New Orleans; his role as the Chairman of the Nicholls State University Foundation; and the future of Bollinger Shipyards.
