An interview with Lindy Boggs conducted by Gus Weill for Louisiana Legends. Boggs, the wife of the late Congressman Hale Boggs, was the first woman elected to Congress from Louisiana. She discusses living in New Orleans; the political career of Hale Boggs; the day she found out about her husband's plane crash in Alaska; her personal impressions and interactions with Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton; her commitment to fighting for equal opportunities for all citizens; her role as the chairperson of the 1976 Democratic National Convention; the honor of having a building named after her at Tulane University; and the careers of her children.
