Description
The third part of an interview with Elvin \0xFFFDTampoo\0xFFFD Dalcourt conducted for Baton Rouge\0xFFFDs Troubled Waters. As a child, Dalcourt became the first person to swim in the Brooks Park swimming pool, which was built for the African American community in Baton Rouge during segregation. He later became the manager of the pool. Dalcourt discusses the popularity of the pool among the kids of the community and the need for shifts in order to avoid overcrowding; his decision to work at the pool; his close relationship with Reverend Willie K. Brooks; the other activities and games available at Brooks Park; the construction of the pool; and improvements that need to be made to the pool today.
