- This episode of the series "Louisiana Legends" from August 25, 2000, features an interview with John Laborde conducted by Gus Weill. Laborde, a native of Marksville, is a co-founder of Tidewater Marine, the largest oil and gas supply boat company in the world. He discusses: growing up in the rural community of Marksville; his time in the ROTC at LSU; his military career in World War II, including serving under General Douglas MacArthur; ambition; starting Tidewater Marine with his brother, Alden; current Tidewater Marine operations; the company's international expansions; business ethics; his retirement; and his contributions to the industry.
