- This episode of the series "Louisiana Legends" from October 22, 1982, features an interview with Shirley Ann Grau conducted by Gus Weill. Grau, an author from New Orleans, Louisiana, received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1965 for her novel "The Keepers of the House." She discusses: the effect of tourism on the French Quarter; her decision to become a writer; writing as a lonely profession; her writing process; book reviews; not relying on her editor; getting her inspiration from newspaper stories; her family; and the late New Orleans author John Kennedy Toole, who won the Pulitzer Prize for "A Confederacy of Dunces."
