Oh. You might say that. Ingle squint in Johnson has a bit of an image problem. The photo shoot five five five we go home. I mean you know I kind of look around and you see bright young talented workers almost all of whom are white. I would say Quinn and Johnson is typical in that respect. Yes. Ingles president being Garrison says the problem is industry wide and he says minority talent is hard to come by. The advertising career path is difficult to enter because entering salaries are low. You have to have a lot of interviews and a lot of different places it's just the way our business has always worked. If you have a talented minority cut coming up through school. There are not many incentives for that person to go into the advertising business I mean there's the lure of investment banking or there's the lure of other career paths if you will that are far easier to
enter. I want to start by applying a spot for you that was done by the sun on your topic of staying in school. The industry solution is to cultivate its own pool of minority talent. For the past year the Ad Club has taught students at Boston English High-School about the rudiments of advertising. The whole basis there would be a symbolizing this is your taking the plumber educator from the future. Last year's class wrote and acted in this public service announcement. How can you let me see you sir. Yes I was. Wrong when you. Say to get. What I got. To know what happens when you drop out. You know what happens when you quit. You've got no future. What else do you see. This year students are producing spots for radio. Hi Trisha. With that it looks like something's going on you know but each group is actually going to produce a radio spot and a soundtrack and these kids are really enthused about doing that
and I think they're generally working to do it because they know that they're going to be in a studio and reading it and waiting for the little cassette in their hand and know that they did a good job. I enjoy it it's a it gives you in your own way to bring out something that you believe in or something that you want to get across to a lot of people out there. This class is just one part of the industry's efforts to recruit minorities. It also provides summer internships and mentors to students. Still it's a long road from classrooms like this one. But industry executives would be happy if even a few of the students make it don't have any illusions that we're going to revolutionize the nation. I do think we're going to going to help some kids get interested in you know our business and see what business is all about and I think that will be good even if we never come into the business. That would be good for the 10 O'Clock News I'm Jennifer Wong. Right.
Can.
I just rework it a few times. Time ends with the word fundraiser. They want to make that life and
fun life and raising. OK you know for I was captured I was very proud of that. Time All-Star catch. Well I just I was sure. The Lunchbox returned from the roll by. This in the end of day. Do. This is right. This is the right. Kind of work and you know it. When you're. With us. One of. The women in the.
U.S. is. Going to. Be. Sure. We talked to him just. Want to say yeah seven and a half on your watch. Yeah I need to lose two more besides. OK. What. You get from this. So it says up so nicely. But this is what I say Can I go home or.
School i go. Maybe this is a time of joy and also I think. You have.
