Night time this is a production of Katie see a gentle too. Oh. Good. This is not the times variety with Michelle barber. Our featured guest tonight is jazz pianist extraordinary Bobby Lyle the nighttimes vocal group is also with us tonight with special guest vocalist Joshua Weaver. Joshua was honored on our show last fall with Rocky robins and we were so impressed with him back then that we wanted to get him on on his own. So he's finally made it here tonight he's going to doing a beautiful song called Everything Must Change. So I'm glad you're all out there watching tonight because we have truly a special show. You know one of the positive changes that is taking place these days is Minnesota's status in the music
industry due to the many recent success stories. The Twin Cities is being recognized nationwide as a hotbed of musical talent. And one reason for this is pianist Bobby Lyle Bobby is one of the first Minnesotans to achieve national recognition help pave the way for others. His recording credits include work with Stevie Wonder Sly Stone he's also toured with Hubert laws and last year with George Benson his playing spans everything from stride piano reminiscent of Father Hines to contemporary jazz improvisations his technique is awesome. And tonight he's exclusively ours. Welcome please. Bobby Lyle. I am. Yeah.
Yeah. I am. I've
been going over to move from the Twin Cities area 974 to further your recording career out in L.A. I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome you back home it's truly a pleasure to have you on our show tonight. I know that on your recent tour with George Benson last year you played nothing but electronic instruments and now you're going on a nationwide tour as an acoustic solo pianist. Is that something that you're going into or going back to. Well actually Michel I'm somewhat of a musical schizophrenia but because I have the Selectric side of me that has to be expressed but I also feel an obligation to further the development of the acoustic piano which is somewhat of a vanishing art form you know outside of Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett there are very few people actually doing this. So the purpose and traveling is going to be focused on college campuses and which will expose the young people that don't get to hear the song and there is an audience very definitely interested.
This is an original composition done recently thing and titled never too far away. All right let's all you guys once again. I've. The end.
To his. Behavior. I am. The band. The band. I buy.
That right. Right now I would like to welcome back to time with you. Do. You feel. Me.
With. What.
Thank you that was how it. Our next guest Joshua Weaver came to Minnesota from Dallas
and Las Vegas where he toured with the coasters and Tyrone Davis you know to the Twin Cities about eight years ago and formed a group called Good Vibrations which was certainly one of the most popular bands until it broke up in 1979. Joshua is a talented writer and an extremely gifted bass player but we're going to focus in on his vocal talents tonight. He's going to do a beautiful Quincy Jones tune. It's called Everything Must Change. Please give a warm welcome to Joshua Weaver. Well.
That's my. Right. What do you.
Think. Why.
Previous presidents of these jammers will be looking for Tina Turner February 17th at First Avenue and some all who has been backing us up all night will be playing this week in O'Connell's right now let's welcome once again Bobby Lyle. Thank you. This little proposition which actually I am debuting this evening inspired by the life and times that we live in. And you're welcome to join me. This is. The song.
