- Description
- Filmmaker Stephen Ives documents the Amato Opera House, a family-run opera company that performs full-scale classical operas on a tiny stage in a New York City brownstone. Though the company is small, it has endured season after season for over half a century, giving young and rising opera talent a place to perform in full productions. In addition, the film is also the tale of Tony and Sally Amato, the couple who founded the company in 1948, revealing their generosity, enthusiasm for art and love for one another.
