Description
Description
This program explores the group theatre, an important theatrical entity of the 1930s. Joanne Woodward, who is a student of Sanford Meisner, one of the original members of the group theatre, hosts the program and interviews Mesiner and other surviving members of the group including Bobby Lewis and Elia Kazan. Archival footage of Lee Strasberg and Harold Clurman lecturing students, clips from movies based on plays originally produced by the group theatre, and a master acting class conducted by Bobby Lewis further document the group theatre's legacy to the American Theatre.
