- Description
- Performed by San Francisco Ballet.?A ballet inspired by events in the life of American Indian activist Richard Oakes. A series of vignettes traces the story of an Indian man from his birth to his death, and, in so doing, reflects on the situation of the contemporary American Indian. The ballet is followed by choreographer Smuin's explanation of its genesis and a documentary about Richard Oakes and the Indian occupation of Alcatraz Island (1969-1971).
