He's done the sun, and we're still moving. We'll build a dream house of life Of love dear, near to the sun in the day Near to the moon at night We're living a lovely way dear Living on love at pale moonlight Just you and I Forever and today Love will not die We'll keep it that way
Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune East of the sun and west of the moon Near east of the sun and west of the moon Near to the moon Near to the moon at night Just you and I
Forever and today Love will not die We'll keep it that way Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune East of the sun and west of the moon Near east of the sun and west of the moon Hello there, happy Friday Welcome to another edition of Friday Night Jazz. Here on Vermont Public Radio, I'm your host Rubin Jackson. Thank you, thank you, thank you as always for tuning in.

On the musical tip, as people used to say back in the day, Ms. Eleanor Fagan, also known as Billy Holiday, One of the greatest vocalist period, you know, to ever do it as Quincy Jones would say, This is from a compilation of her work on the Verve label and her reading of the standard East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Once again, Happy Friday.
Welcome to this edition of Friday Night Jazz with your host, Pearson Mary Jackson, Music, Love and Son. That's right, Rubin. And we'll continue with the music, shall we not? Good, I know that's why you're here. One more from Billy Holiday here in the eight o'clock hour of Friday Night Jazz on VPR. Another standard, Blue Moon. Blue Moon. You saw me standing alone. Without a dream in my heart. Without a love of mine. Blue Moon. You knew just what I was there for. You're in me saying I'm prayer for. So when I really could care for. And then there's a live here before me.
The only one miles will ever hold it. I heard somebody whisper, please adore me. And while I look through that turn to gold, blue moon. Now I'm no longer alone. Without a dream in my heart. Without a love of mine. Blue Moon.

Blue Moon. One more by the one and only Billie Holiday just a moment into another edition of Friday Night Jazz on VPR. I'm so happy as always to share music with you. And once again, Billie Holiday actually born in Philadelphia. Not Baltimore as was commonly reported for many years and blue moon. And speaking of incomparable singular vocalist, this collection marked something of a comeback for. This native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. James Victor Scott, better known as Jimmy Scott. Some wonderful, wonderful anecdotes, liner notes of this collection called All the Way. We're going to hear two by Jimmy Scott because to quote Duke Ellington, Duke Ellington compositional title, Ain't But The One.
We'll start with the title track from All the Way. And we'll conclude the set with Jimmy Scott's reading of a great, great composition by Cole Porter entitled, Every Time We Say Goodbye. When somebody loves you, it's no good unless she loves you. All the way. Happy to be near you. When you need someone to cheer you. All the way.
All the way. All the way. Deeper than the deep blue sea. That's how deep it goes. If it's real. When somebody needs you. It's no good unless she needs you. All the way.
Through the good and linear. And for all the in-between you. Come what may. Who knows where the rock will lead. Only a fool would say. If you let me love you. It was your I'm gonna love you. All the way. All the way.
Who knows where the rock will lead. Only a fool would say. If you let me love you.
It was your I'm gonna love you. All the way. All the way. Every time. We say goodbye.
I've done a little. Every time. We say goodbye. I wonder why a little. Why the God above me. Who must be in the know. Things so little of me. They allow you to. When you're near.
There's such an end. Of spring above me. I can hear a lot somewhere. Begin to see about it. There's no love song final. But I'll scream the chain from major to minor. Every time. We say goodbye. We say goodbye.

Autumn in New York, why does it seem so inviting? Autumn in New York, it spells the thrill of first lighting. Glittering crowds and shivering clouds and canyons of steel. They're making me feel I'm home.
It's autumn in New York that brings the promise of new love. Autumn in New York is often mingled with pain. Dreamers with empty hands may sigh for exotic lens. It's autumn in New York that brings the promise of new love. It's autumn in New York, it's good to live it again.
Autumn in New York. This is Joe Stafford to come and ask you on another V-Disk. This newest record is a part of the Triple A release we're sending out to you men. I certainly hope that you enjoy this one and all the others too. In the night, oh we're apart, there's a ghost of you within my heart apart. Ghost of you, my lost romance, licked at last that day's heart at heart won't let me be.
Dreams repeat a sweet but lonely song for me. Dreams are just that you must belong to me and through my heart at heart. It's still my heart at heart. Dreams are just that you must belong to me and through my heart at heart.
It's still my heart at heart. Dreams are just that you must belong to me and through my heart at heart. It's still my heart at heart. It's still my heart at heart.
Dreams are just that you must belong to me and through my heart at heart. Dreams are just that you must belong to me and through my heart at heart. The only news I know is bulletins all day. From immortality.
The only shows I see tomorrow and today per chance eternity. The only one I mean is God. The only street. Existence. This traverse. If other news there for you, I'll tell you. The only shows I see tomorrow and today per chance eternity.
