Description
Episode Description
"SNEAK PREVIEWS: WOMEN IN DANGER is about the alarming trend toward films being based solely on the theme of violent acts against women. Critics Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel take a hard look at how popular movies such as 'Friday the 13th,' 'When a Stranger Calls.' And 'I Spit on Your Grave,' 'systematically demean half the human race,' as Ebert puts it. The critics also analyze the differences between a good horror film and the majority of thrillers being released. "SNEAK PREVIEWS is television's only consumer guide to the movies which provides a unique format for reviewing movies: two critics face to face. The critics demonstrate a genuinely felt responsibility to help viewers make informed decisions about the movies they choose to see. With twenty-six years of film criticism between them, Ebert and Siskel are sensitive to the latest trends in movies, such as WOMEN IN DANGER, and can readily analyze and articulate their opinions about the issue."--1981 Peabody Awards entry form.
