Description
Program Description
"In 1981, a local natural history museum, The Milwaukee Public Museum, discovered the world's largest dinosaur skull during their annual Dig-A-Dinosaur expedition in northeastern Montana. The documentary or 'science adventure', HOW TO BUILD A DINOSAUR, chronicles the assembly of the 7-ton beast. [Designed] for children and family viewing, the story illustrates that scientists are not stuffy and wear white lag coats all the time. Some make rock videos. All struggle with their research and resolve investigation conflicts while having a great deal of fun. Rock and Rolling paleontologist (fossil scientist) Rolf Johnson takes the viewer through this first-person presentation. "Employer polls indicate that the U.S. is not graduating enough scientists. Therefore, the primary goal of the series is to spark the interest of children to continue their science studies and ultimately become scientists."--1990 Peabody Awards entry form.
