I don't say say. National Educational Television presents Lahu Nell Imbarazzo, or The Tutor in Distressed,
a comic opera by Guy Tonogonatetti, based upon a text by Jocke Poe from the film, With this opera, Nanazetti, at the age of 26, achieved his first success on the operatic stage, the premiere of Lahu Nell Imbarazzo in Rome in February 1824, one instant acclaim from the critics. In a matter of months, the opera appeared in other Italian cities and eventually in major theatres on the continent and abroad. The comedy in the opera derives from a timeless and universal situation, the delusions of an overprotective father and the rebellion of his two sons. Unknown to Don Giulio, the father and a tutor, Don Gregorio, the young men are following their own inclinations, despite restrictions against worldly pleasures in general and women in particular. Pipetto, the younger son, has fallen in love with a housekeeper,
and Enrico, the elder, has secretly married a charming young neighbor, Gilbert, daughter of a deceased army friend. When Don Giulio discovers Gilbert, hidden in his own house, the truth must be told. With military cunning, Gilbert persuades Don Giulio to honor the marriage and a reconciliation in a sense. In the opening scene, Pipetto is gazing in rapture at Leonardo, the housekeeper, one of the few women he has ever seen. Don Gregorio enters and a
lesson begins. And he translates me to the vulgar, this brave young man, Nascoso, to study. Let's go, Nascoso! Shut up, shut up! Mother, you are so beautiful, will never be able to rest. What is the truth? We will study. No, no, no! Only the ugly, the most insolent, that the logic is invented. So
