Episode Description
This is the Ribadier System the first play in NETs French farce series, PARIS 1900, based on the farces of Georges Feydeau.?After two years absence, Thommereux, an old admirer of Angele, arrives at Ribadiers home. He is shocked to find her married. He is even more shocked at Ribadiers system for deceiving his wife, but decides to take advantage of it himself. That evening Ribadier goes to his mistress Madame Savinet, leaving Angele asleep on the sofa. The plot thickens when Madame Savinets husband, a wine merchant, returns and chases Ribadier home. Meanwhile, Thommereux has woken Angele to declare his love for her. He flees, and Angele, feigning sleep, find out the truth when Savinet challenges her husband to a duel. Angele seeks revenge by telling her husband that each time he left her asleep an unknown man stole into the house and took advantage of her helpless condition. But her plan backfires, and she is later reconciled with her husband. PARIS 1900 #1 THE RIBADIER SYSTEM is a presentation of National Educational Television, produced by Granada Television, London.
