- Opening with President Eisenhowers dramatic offer of atoms for all before the United Nations, Power Unlimited continues by pinpointing developments leading to peacetime uses of atomic energy. The camera takes viewers to a site near Pittsburgh, PA, where ground breaking is under way for the first power reactor. Switching to Lost River Desert in Idaho, the film shows the Breeder Reactor under development and brings to the screen a spectacular shot of the first power from a reactor plant being used to light a bulb and to turn a power machine. - Series Description
- This is a series is devoted to the peacetime applications of atomic energy. The objective of this series is to create an understanding of the wonders inherent in nonmilitary use of the atom which is said will affect in a highly beneficial way the lives of every person in the United States. The series of 26 fifteen-minute episodes was originally shot in black and white on film and was done with the cooperation of the Atomic Energy Commission by the Handel Film Corporation of Hollywood.
