Peter Brook, one of the directors of the Royal Shakespeare Company of England, best known in America for his production of Peter Weisss play Marat/Sade, discusses the advantages of working in repertory theater for the actor, director, and playwright; the differences between his companys work and the Broadway system; the need for government subsidy of the arts. Brook is interviewed by the distinguished drama critic of the Boston Record American, Elliot Norton. The conversation also explores the growth of the Royal Shakespeare Company; its production of King Lear in terms of the plan and Paul Scofields interpretation of Lear, as well as the Companys entry into the motion picture field with its film version of Marat/Sade. onversations 1967-1968 Peter Brook is a 1967 presentation of National Educational Television.
