Here Professor Brogran discusses the reactions of the American service man and the American tourist to the conditions and environment he meets in Europe. The conversation roams through such topics as the knowledge that American servicemen gain in Europe, the attitudes of Europeans toward American servicemen, German willingness to be more friendly than either the British or the French, the behavior of Americans in Europe, and Europeans reactions when they come to the United States. Series Description
Denis W. Brogan is one of those rare Englishmen who understand and appreciate America. A distinguished professor and writer in the fields of American history and politics, he was educated at Glasgow University, Balliol College at Oxford, and Harvard University. Professor Brogan has recently served as a visiting professor at Michigan State University. In discussions with Dr. Russel Nye, director of MSUs Division of Language and Literature, and Dr. Madison Kuhn, professor of history, Professor Brogan reveals a keen insight into American character and Americas image of the world. Denis W. Brogan on America was produced by WSMB, East Lansing. The 2 half-hour episodes the comprise this series were originally recorded on videotape.
