Jack Tworkov is one of Americas major painters, and one of the founders and giants of abstract expressionism, the school of painting that revolutionized the art world. In this color film, Mr. Tworkov who is head of the painting department at Yale, talks about the excitement of the early days of abstract expressionism its growth and realization. He is seen at work in his New York City studio on a new, large, and yet unfinished canvas and in his home and studio in Provincetown, Mass. Via his actual paintings, the specific characteristics of abstract expressionism are seen and discussed by Mr. Tworkov, who is also seen doing a realistic portrait study of a friend.
