Just over a year ago, Joplin City officials did know how their town would fare after the pandemic. It appears that the city could be in a better position than it was in one year ago. Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley speaking on Monday and the city's monthly COVID-19 update. Joplin's economic development, opportunity, and outlook has never been brighter for what I've experienced on my six years on council. And this is on the heels of Amazon hiring people right now, cases distribution hiring people right now. Joplin Health Director Ryan Talk and also speaking at Monday's update said that 31% of the city's residents had received at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot, which is higher than the state average of about 24%.
