April COVID-19 Update

The death reported late Tuesday, rings the city's total to 130. The victim was a 69-year-old male. Yesterday, the Joplin Health Department also reported that most new cases in the past two weeks with 10. On the vaccine front, over one quarter of all Missouri residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while just over 15% of residents have completed their vaccinations. Joplin continues to lead the state and vaccination rates with 31.6% of the population getting at least one dose of a vaccine. 25% of Green County residents have and vaccinated so far with one dose. On Wednesday, Governor Mike Parson announced that the state will host a mega vaccination event in Springfield at the Hammond Student Center on the campus of Missouri State University next Thursday and Friday, from 8 AM until 5 PM both days.
