Music Did you know that Africans explored the entire world long before
1492? The first Spanish import to use explorers of the so -called New World found colonies of black people on the eastern coast of South Central America, Yucatan, and Nicaragua. Baboa recorded that he saw black people at the isthmus of Darians in the year 1513 before African slaves could have been there. The mandingos of Mali and Songhai and possibly other Africans crossed the Atlantic Ocean before Columbus. They married or traded with Western hemisphere Indians and further succeeded in establishing colonies throughout the Americans. The features of Africans are clearly illustrated in American Indian sculpture. Columbus emphatically stated that he encountered black traders from Guinea who traded an alloy of gold called Guanin. He found them in Central and South America. Guanin is referred to by the same name in Africa and the New World colonies and nowhere else. The alloy has precisely the same composition in both places. There are huge stone heads in the New World, specifically the
Olmex civilization having African features. These heads date back 3 ,000 years before Christ. When Columbus stopped at Cape Verde Allen on the coast of Africa, he was told that Africans from the Guinea coast often set out into the Atlantic Ocean in Canoes loaded with merchandise and staring into the West. Columbus is further informed by Indians in the West Indians, in West Indies rather, that they had been able to obtain gold from black men who had come across the sea from South and Southwest. America was spewing on his voice to the Americas, witnessed the same black men out into Atlantic returning to Africa. Professor Leo Werner tells us seeing a statuette of a black man in this country. The statue was at least 20 ,000 years old. He further states that there is a tribe of blacks in France, Guiana, that is the last Aboriginal black tribe preserved in America. The first Spanish and Portuguese explorers found colonies of black men on eastern coast of South and Central America on Yucatan and Nicaragua.
Father Roman, one of the earliest Catholic missionaries in the New World, records that a tribe of black men came from the South and landed in Haiti. There is an ancient Mexican god whose name translates to blackface. It is evident then that descendants of Africa need not mark their arrival in the New World as coinciding with slavery. We were here long before Columbus set foot in the New World. Did you know? Thanks, Ralph. Now let me introduce you to the world's oldest music promoter, just kidding, Jerry Hill. And he's here with Eric Blackwell. From time to time, Jerry brings his latest talented person that he's discovered. And he's here with us now. And what we're going to do is talk to him for a second. How are you guys doing, Chris? All right. I guess I'm doing pretty fair. Yeah, what's going on, Jerry? I don't know. I'm all in
red. Oh, you got red? What is this, baby? You got red socks all the day, everything. But you waitin' on somebody to give me? Yeah, I don't know. So I'm neighbor with you by being trouble. I don't know. Well, how are you doing? Well, I got some doing pretty fair, Chris. Yeah, you've got always something going. And Eric is who you're pushing right now. Yes. Eric Blackwell is a beautiful singer. I feel that he's one of the greatest can make it out of it just like Jordy Benson and the rest of them. I think that he's really smart with his music. Oh, yeah, it would make him so smart. Well, he's, you know, he got that newest trend, which is what? No, you know that hip hop. Oh, that hip hop is that he's got that feel to it, right? Hey, Eric, welcome back. You've been here once before. G Wiz, it seemed like about three or four years ago, man. It's been a couple. Yeah. It's good to see you back. Are you getting into your music again? What have you laid off for a while away? Yeah. Relax a little bit. I'm glad to come back the way I'm coming back with Jerry here and being on his label. Thank you. Pretty good. Okay. You just needed to get back into your music. Now, I know you did
all of the music on this. You sang. You just redid the tracks. Track by track. You played all the instruments and everything else, right? It's not going to study on by myself. It's just me. And what I'm feeling. Okay. You wrote this on the lyrics, too? Yeah. Where does your inspiration come from? From the heart. Things around me. Things that I've been through just from the heart. Okay. Well, it sounds good to me. And I hope the record does well. They're playing it locally on WCXJ, right? Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Well, let's see if everybody else can play it, too. I hope it really hits and makes some sales for you, man. Thanks a lot. Okay. Tell you what, we recorded Eric singing, looking for love a little while ago. And he's sitting here with us now. But what we're going to do is take a look and a listen it. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for
love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Till I find the love, look at the love. All I need, all I need is to find some love. Look at the love, now I'll never stop. Till I find the love. You see, girl, you just
don't understand. I don't ever want to be alone. I don't ever want to be alone. Look at the love, all I need, all I need is to find some love. Look at the love, now I'll never stop. Till I find the love. I can give all I need, all I need is to be with you. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love. Eric Blackwell singing, looking for love.
All I need, all I need is you, look at my love I need a love, I need a love Look at my love, my mom baby, come on sweet baby Come on and give me, look at my love All of my love Look at my love I'll never Look at my love I was there at
Blackwell singing his original compilation Did I say that? A composition called Looking for Love and Jerry Hill reminds me to tell you that is available in just about all the record stores including music, man, dorsis, records, steadifords and national record shops and just about anywhere else that you would buy a record Hope you'll get out and support local man who's trying to do the right things through his music Eric Blackwell is called Looking for Love It's a good tune, we're playing it on WCXJ Well man, that seat has been such a long time since I have seen you What a wonderful happiness have you brought us today in terms of all the holiday releases Well getting ready for the big Thanksgiving Christmas movie rollout is the return of everybody's favorite weirdos, the Adam's family Ooh Cookie, the crazy of this cookie I know but no MC Hammer this time Oh no MC Hammer I know Well that was a real pop catcher all that
they got a whole lot of people You know I know but see he was really riding the crest at that time You know that was like the perfect little Oh, Hammer's passing now Well, you know Oh well, is there anything music to do? Let's not be all in the past Okay, is there anything music that's going to be catchy about this one? I haven't heard the great pop Oh these days you do not release a movie unless there's a co -evident video Soundtrack album and like the whole key pop song that you hear So you know maybe Ray Parker Jr. will make a comeback Remember here Ghostbusters Ghostbusters yeah Yeah that was a great one Well I tell you what why don't we take a look at the clip from the Adam's family We got a trailer we didn't get clips yet And it's not release shit it's what do out just before Thanksgiving Right and it's called Adam's Family Values Ooh sounds strange okay The Adam's Family Values movie is due to be released soon Why don't we look at this trailer to get an idea of what family values mean to the Adam's is
Go ahead! It's like newly shot what is it? It's a Adam's We came home Did you see that? This is Mr. Linsky on your man. What do we say? Be afraid Summer game I'm sorry I'll be taking it All your life I'm engaged That dream Because our mother's she was buried with it So you still desire me after all this time
You're all born Jay Forever I'll get them You like Sue? I'm good with my nails I'll never forget you You want? You're too weird It's great if you need anything Why are you dressed like somebody died? Wait God of Mia God of Mia I've told you this a million times You look just like Raul Julia You're wasting your time You could be a big star What about the baby in there? What about the baby in there? What about the baby in there? Talk about the spitting image The thing
about these movies is they're just completely silly They're just to have a good time with There's no redeeming social value here It's just fun This is a chance to use a movie as a true escape valve And just go and come out to theater smiling And they're so completely opposite from what you think And always have been your average American wholesome family And these people are really just completely twisted What it looks like they take Pugsie And Wednesday Go camping in this one and there's some strange things going on And love seems to be brewing for Wednesday Wednesday falls in love Fester falls in love Of course Gomez and Morticia are always in love Have a baby That would be it Another stranger And he's far breathing in all sorts of things In true evidence What else do you see coming along the fight? There's a lot of hubbub about the new movie that Robin Williams is going to star in Mrs. Doubtfire Mrs. Doubtfire And
it's about a man who's separated divorced from his wife and his children But he wants to be a part of their wives And so following the great tradition of men and drag, he dresses up Like a middle -aged woman and becomes the nanny for his own children So he can spend time with them So this is being touted as the next big, you know, this is going to be the big holiday blockbuster But does anybody remember toys with Robin Williams? No, not really And I saw that one and I don't remember See, stick with that thought It has some great moments in it, but it was strange I know, and it's just, I mean I think this is going to be a little bit safer Because I don't know why, but people love a man in a dress And I guess Robin Williams will get to do all of his stick and his character Whenever he can go crazy, it's always an opportunity for lots of fun and hilarity It's going to be a good season I think at the movies Okay, and next week we'll probably take a look at Geronimo And see what that's like It seems like there's a trend coming along with let's do the Native American thing And let's do it right with appropriate clothes and loincoats and
whatever That kind of thing Yeah No big deal Yeah, well listen Okay, well, you don't know if any of the big releases that are coming along No, the press materials have been trickling to say the very least There have been a lot of movies in production, but there's not a lot of screaming about them But there'll be a veritable flood, I'm sure, just after Thanksgiving and all the way through Chris You'll not even have finished dinner before it'll be time to jump in the car And go out to your local multiplex and digest in public Okay, well we'll come back and look at Geronimo next week about that That will be cool All right, you know what I'm doing this show is just too much fun, whatever many is here I hope you join us next week when we do part two of the holiday season movie releases In the meantime, don't forget that I can also be heard on WCXJ's Black Talk week day mornings Yes, from 7 to 10 a .m. Hey at Black Talk, I'm just a backseat driver and a car like going wherever you take me when you give me a car Say goodbye to many
