- Description
- From Costa Rica's lush rain forests to Australia's Great Barrier Reef to Africa's dusty savanna, KRATTS' CREATURES is the first wildlife series designed specifically to excite kids about all kinds of wild creatures, in exotic lands as well as in their own backyards, by getting them right into nature. Host-brothers Martin Kratt and Chris Kratt, two young, award-winning nature filmmakers with degrees in zoology and biology, respectively, take a radical approach to wildlife filmmaking: they help kids not only see a baboon, but feel what it's like to be a baboon. On their far-flung expeditions into the world's jungles, forests and oceans, the Kratts literally swim with sharks in the Caribbean, camp out with baboons in Africa and get completely turned around searching for the Tasmanian Tiger in Australia. At home, the guys are joined by 15-year-old nature enthusiast Allison Baldwin (Shannon Duff), who runs the Creature Club, their funky research center. Keeping in touch with the Kratts via the Creature Screen, a video monitor that enables her to see them no matter where they are, Allison helps kids make the connection between the exotic creature kingdom and the fascinating world unfolding in their own backyards. Allison is assisted by Ttark, a wisecracking, animated cartoon friend and jungle-smart "creature consultant," who pops up on his own video screen to provide Allison and the viewing audience with useful nuggets of information, such as how horses evolved from creatures as small as a chicken, or what it's like to breathe underwater. An innovative mix of wildlife filmmaking, creative animation and humorous dialogue, KRATTS' CREATURES is the first wildlife series of its kind for elementary and middle school kids. KRATTS' CREATURES is accompanied by a national outreach campaign with activities and materials designed to reinforce the themes and objectives of the series.
