But you're correct is that right. You're right you really could read with my brother. We played together for 20 years. Yeah. We go back often to those records with you and Buddy to Franco together we had you know we did a thing when he got the NEA JAZZ MASTER and it's turned 83 earlier this year we did a big show. It was 84 that way. Yeah. Ever. Well we're so happy to have a minute on the phone with Terry Gibbs and want to say happy birthday to you. Yes that's right I have a birthday you imagine that I'm still around. They can't get rid of the ads and the music is as energetic and effervescent as ever with uber special guest on your new and we're really enjoying it. I appreciate very like eat up Mark. He really is you know a good buddy of Franco for you. They clattered it. Hey buddy you're frankly a fluke that you like. That's about right. They really go together. And this you guys have not worked together before I guess never. We you know we crossed paths and a lot of time but never really came in the laps of walking
the club playing that we were playing a blue car and got a piccolo and gave a good workout. They just want to play in the blues and just played with me that we had we played and played good playing and when we go up to date we broke it up and you know you would actually you would like to record together I think that you know what Kitty you were right you were going to get to let it happen. It's a great win and you keep it in the family with your son. Well I'm already fairly good blade. If he couldn't play he would be that no matter what and why I'm still alive and if you want to think of my band. Forget about the good things like when you go back later and he's got good records were gambling on his own age you're right he did do it. So how do you go for your bond right. Front right here but you're good. We had a good beginning the past few days here we are on Saturday night and we are looking for some action from
jazz fans but we need everything we need we need. Yes it really is about all the music jazz and classical music that overlook the old time and the only way it goes good when you guys play it and the only way you can play it with people help and then in whatever country you feel they can make a few important really important. I know it's the same where you are as everywhere in the country that it's only on public listener supported that it happens. That's right because it's not a money maker. It's just waking up to 50 games where the people are going to buy. Clark you get better you know. Yeah. Are you the number of well we're speaking of it is 1 800 7:04 1 9 0 9 0 and that's how people can keep the new Terry Gibbs music on the air and the old favorites too.
That's what I needed to live by then their money and you go I need we take in their calls as we speak. An addition to your new release. We love to go back and we're doing some of that tonight too. One band in particular must have great memories for you. Known as the Terry Gibbs dream bad thing that if there were six CDs in every character I play you like played at every children I play has a story and I write it all and it's something you can buy something you can't buy for making dollars just that your card for me actually but we played the scale with $15 and I told the guy your band parametric eq the band you know I made a living so you could imagine how I had to be an idiot to go to work. But I couldn't hardly wait to get there. It was a foreign It was like a freak going to happen. 16 yeah I get it you're good to just play and it worked.
What a lineup of players and of the Rangers you had it in the upright right we were all primal you know we were all pro the band created a real legendary aura. But it was really only over the years later that the records trickled out that most of my jobs I do there are between then library and colleges and I got a call from a plane the other day that was like um their plane might do better with their bear is that right. Yeah I've been doing it and I think you I mean of course it's nothing like what I've heard that music played like in the gantry with about 60 percent of it it's like a pit without it could get you know where you get the greatest actor you don't have a you know musically great great and to play with a really great Don't slow down and you know
I don't know. If you can try it you got it you got a busy schedule. Here is the journey. No actually I'm just going to actually relax. I don't what I want to be working on it right now with the blocking helping you in and getting to my dear I have an idea of according to somebody or somebody else I like produce the album. People like i think i get the piss out of somebody without having to change their way of brain. Yeah and I enjoyed your mentioning that tonight along with your music tributes to a couple other pretty good musicians. Art Tatum and Ray Brown. These birthdays are only what they were two years younger than he really would have been eight if you're right well 80 and I think we call him care but they also say it's
popular we are a great jazz players. And you would Ray of course spent a lot of time together. Yeah it was probably on the balance that when he first got to California. You get yourself in shape to do what they call learned offended. They don't let it work in my little band I'm a big band for about declaring it. No that's not in the record you have there. Later on. All right and did you work with a New York City mayor today. We don't have people like the date of the labor force here you know we have good players but there's a few that stick out like a Charlie Parker but he really cares. They all wanted a curry you know they typically were one of the Carol and we spoke earlier about one of the one of the real masters still working who has you but you're too
close to work with a lot of money to Franco. I love her and get one of the I think you would be I think if you were being a little bit your music. Losing a belt in a bloody different. If you were if you look at Buddy I'm very close to each other like brothers. We spent 20 years playing together you know living together. We were told to leave the place we created in Europe but we just made it be good for a new record. There's something about that clarinet vibes sound. Yeah anywhere that they think you can get take any idiot with that play the vibe or crowded were good. Well when it's guys of your caliber It sounds all the better. I don't want to hang you up I just want to say how much we continue to enjoy your music and wish you Happy Birthday and many more.
Appreciate it very much and fail already or do you mean I gotta run you right I have to. All right Bob you take care and I thank you again for all the good you've got to play out there. Take care Jerry but you kill by.
